- Hemolytic Anemia
- SYMPTOMS. Hemolytic Anemia may show signs of jaundice (a yellowing of the
- skin), fever, chills, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and any of the signs
- for Iron Deficiency Anemia.
- CAUSES. The anemia is caused by the failure of new red blood cells to form
- as fast as they are destroyed. The red blood cells being destroyed may be
- caused by mismatched blood transfusions, Rh incompatibility, reactions to
- some medications and industrial poisons such as aniline and benzene.
- TREATMENT. A blood transfusion and other treatment is usually needed.
